True confession--I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for my own Valentine, and we always have a nice day. I'm also a romance author, and love romance. So why the lack of love for Valentine's Day?
What I don't like are 'holidays' where you are supposed to feel a specific way. New Year's Eve? Thou shalt party, even if you are an extreme introvert and don't have a date. Valentine's Day falls into the same category--despite your situation or feelings, thou shalt be romantic.
My husband and I have been married for almost 25 years (next month.) I have a Valentine. But for many years and on many other Valentine's Days, I was single and did not. Some years the lack of a partner didn't bother me, others it did, but I'm stubborn enough to resent a holiday telling me how to feel no matter what the date on the calendar.
So, I hope you have a great day spent any way you wish, and know, in your heart, I will never tell you how to feel today.
Enjoy.
